Mandala Workshop
February 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
$65
Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means “sacred circle.” It is also symbolic of wholeness and unity. Today, Mandalas are used as creative tools to encourage self-expression and self-reflection.
Mandalas are great to use with kids because they:
Provide children with a creative outlet for documenting their thoughts and feelings
Help to calm the mind and discourage negative thoughts
Help kids develop personal awareness about their strengths and abilities and to recognize the mind-body connection. I can, if only I believe I can
During this workshop, we will discuss the importance of emotional expression. Many times, it is difficult for children to express their emotions, either because they don’t recognize the emotion, they don’t know how to identify and express it, or they are embarrassed to admit they feel a certain way. Because of these reasons, we often see children express their emotions through behaviours like temper tantrums, crying, clinginess, regression, and aggression. Through the creation of a mandala, children will learn why and how to express their emotions and what makes them unique individuals. Unique individuals who should be proud of their differences.
